What is the GMKtec NEO-X1 Pro?

The GMKtec NEO-X1 Pro is not a mini PC in the 1-liter sense, and GMKtec does not pretend otherwise. It is a 14.6 L small form factor gaming PC, the company’s first system with a full desktop graphics card: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12GB paired with AMD’s Ryzen 9 9955HX3D. It is aimed squarely at readers who outgrew iGPU mini PCs and want real 1440p gaming without a mid-tower on the desk.

The design is what GMKtec calls MoDT (mobile on desktop). The 9955HX3D is a laptop-class chip, soldered to a desktop-style motherboard, with 16 cores, 32 threads, a 5.4 GHz boost and 128MB of L3 cache thanks to second-generation 3D V-Cache. The GPU sits in a normal PCIe slot, fed by an 850W SFX power supply.

What is the NEO-X1 Pro good for?

1440p gaming. This is the headline use. The RTX 5070 here is the desktop card (6,144 CUDA cores, 192-bit GDDR7), not the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, and that difference matters more than anything else on the spec sheet. Early coverage puts it around 100 to 110 fps at 1440p in most modern titles before DLSS 4 and Frame Generation; Geeky Gadgets’ first look reports over 110 fps in Forza Horizon 6 at 1440p ultra and 81 fps in Cyberpunk 2077. Those are their numbers, not ours.

CPU-bound games. The 128MB of V-Cache is the reason to pick the Pro over the plain NEO-X1. Esports titles and simulation games that lean on cache tend to benefit most, as Igor’sLAB points out.

Creator work. Sixteen Zen 5 cores at up to 160W sustained (170W peak) in Performance mode, plus NVENC on the RTX 5070, cover 4K editing in Premiere or Resolve and GPU rendering in Blender comfortably.

Local AI, within limits. CUDA support makes the NEO-X1 Pro an easy box for Stable Diffusion, Whisper and 7B to 14B language models. The 12GB of VRAM is the ceiling: 30B-class models need heavy quantization or CPU offload, and 70B models are out of reach at useful speeds. For big-model inference with lots of unified memory, a Strix Halo box like the GMKtec EVO-X2 AI mini PC is the better tool.

Build and connectivity

The chassis is metal, 350 x 165 x 265 mm without the carry handle, and weighs about 7 kg. The CPU is on an AIO liquid cooler, with a three-fan layout overall. GMKtec exposes three CPU power modes: Silent 54W, Balanced 85W, Performance 160W.

Front panel:

  • 2x USB-A 2.0
  • 1x USB-C 5Gbps
  • 3.5 mm combo jack, power button

Rear panel (motherboard):

  • 1x HDMI 2.1 (4K60), 1x DisplayPort 1.4
  • 2x USB-A 2.0, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps), 1x USB-C 10Gbps
  • 1x 2.5GbE (Realtek RTL8125)
  • Mic-in, line-out, line-in, Wi-Fi antenna connector

RTX 5070 outputs: 1x HDMI 2.1b and 3x DisplayPort 2.1b. Plug your monitors into these, not the board ports. Wireless is Wi-Fi 7 (MediaTek MT7925) with Bluetooth 5.4. Windows 11 Pro ships preinstalled, and GMKtec lists Ubuntu as compatible.

Memory, storage, and upgrades

  • RAM: 2x DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM, up to 96GB. The US Pro configuration ships with 64GB.
  • Storage: two M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slots (one takes 22110 drives), up to 16TB total. The bundled 1TB or 2TB SSD is a PCIe 4.0 drive, so the Gen5 headroom is for your next upgrade. Related: our guide to the best PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs for mini PCs.
  • GPU: a standard desktop card in a standard slot, so a future swap is possible within the case’s size and the 850W PSU’s budget.
  • CPU: soldered. What you buy is what you keep.

Pricing and where to buy the GMKtec NEO-X1 Pro

The NEO-X1 Pro went on sale in China on August 17, 2026 at 16,499 yuan (about $2,438, per VideoCardz). In the US, GMKtec’s store lists the 64GB + 2TB Pro at $3,199.99 (list $3,699.99), and Amazon has the same configuration at the same price. The $2,199.99 figure shown at the top of the GMKtec page is the non-Pro NEO-X1 (Ryzen 9 9955HX + RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, 32GB + 1TB), not the Pro.

Our buy link points to the 64GB/2TB Amazon listing. A separate 32GB/2TB Amazon listing exists but was priced higher than the 64GB unit when we checked, so skip it.

If you already own a capable mini PC, an OCuLink eGPU route is cheaper. A GMKtec K11 with its OCuLink port plus the GMKtec AD-GP1 OCuLink eGPU dock gets you discrete graphics without buying a new system, at the cost of PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth and cable clutter. The NEO-X1 Pro gives the RTX 5070 a proper slot and a single tidy box. If you want to stay in true mini PC territory, the GMKtec EVO-X1 Pro is the compact option in the same lineup. What we’d flag

  • Soldered CPU. RAM, SSD and GPU are upgradeable; the 9955HX3D is not.
  • Size and weight. 14.6 L and 7 kg is a small desktop, not a box that vanishes behind a monitor.
  • One 2.5GbE port. Fine for gaming, limiting for home-lab use.
  • Board video is DP 1.4. Irrelevant if you use the GPU outputs, which you should.
  • 12GB of VRAM caps local LLM work well below what 64GB of system RAM suggests.

Verdict

The GMKtec NEO-X1 Pro is the right step for anyone who has pushed an iGPU mini PC as far as it goes. A desktop RTX 5070, a V-Cache Ryzen 9, two PCIe 5.0 slots and an 850W Gold supply in 14.6 L is a strong package, and the trade-offs (soldered CPU, single LAN, some bulk) are the expected ones. At $3,199.99 it is not cheap, so watch for discounts. For compact 1440p gaming, we recommend it.
